WWII German Cloth Award Badges & Insignia
|
This is our Sniper Badge page. Other WWII Heer re-enactment items can be found on the Trade Badges page. And the Signal "Blitz's" page.SS items may be found here. On August 20th, 1944, the Führer instituted a special sniper’s badge (Scharfschuetzen-Abzeichen) for the Army and SS-Verfuegungstruppe (later the Waffen-SS). The badge was to honour the marksman with his rifle. Three grades were authorised: No border = 20 kills. Silver colour border = 40 kills. Gold colour border = 60 kills. The repro' here is the 60 kill variant. As the collectors and serious re-enactors reading this will know, there was a massive variation in both design interpretation and manufacturing quality amongst German WWII cloth insignia and badges. The example here truly represents the best of its type and is a replica of a genuine item in our reference library. Actual size approx. 70mm x 50mm. ALL the repro' items we offer are based on genuine examples, not line drawings from a book. They have the "warts and all" finish that typifies most Heer cloth badges of this era and no two are identical. Remember, this badge is NOT a sad machine clone but a fine example of hand embroidery that, as you can see, captures the spirit of the real thing. Each badge, like the originals, will be slightly different. The badge has a dark green backing that extends beyond the gold coloured border and this can be cropped away partially or entirely according to usage requirements. Here's the clincher. Because I know how superb these badges are, if you purchase any and don't love them, you can send them right back for a full refund, less my actual postage costs.
